We use Cookies on the purefinance.ie website

A cookie is small text file that is stored on your device.  It has information in it that allows us to “remember” something as you visit pages on the site – for example, whether or not you are logged in.  In this document, we’ll explain why we set cookies, what information they contain and what choices you have as a user of this site.

Essential Cookies

We have 2 types of essential cookies, they are for:

  1. Cookie Notice Popup/Banner
  2. Commenting on the website

Cookie Notice Popup

When you dismiss the Cookie Notice, a cookie called cookieconsent_status is set on your device for 1 year.  This is so that we don’t need to remind you that this website uses cookies.  You can delete this cookie anytime (or for all time) using your browser settings, however that means that the Cookie Notice will reappear on your screen.

Commenting on the website

These cookies will only be set if you use the Comments functionality on the site.  The purpose of these cookies is to identify you as a logged-in user, grant the privileges to comment on the site and differentiate you from other logged in users.  These cookies are essential, and without them you will not be able to use the commenting system.  The following cookies are set with the duration of just under 1 year:

Comment_author_{HASH}

Comment_author_email {HASH}

Comment_author_{HASH}

(Where {HASH} is a coded string of alphanumeric characters.)

Once you have submitted your comment, you can delete these cookies but if you want to comment again you will need to fill out all these details again.  If you leave the cookies in place, the comment form will remember your previous details as a convenience.

Statistical cookies

We use Google Analytics to learn about how visitors use our site so that we can make better decisions on the content presented.  We do no collect any data that could identify you personally.  All data, including your IP address, is anonymised before it is sent to Google Analytics servers in Ireland.  We keep this data for 26 months before deletion.

You’ll recognise Google Analytics cookies as follows:

_gid-set for 24 hours.  Used to uniquely identify visitors.

_gat-set for 10 minutes. Use to throttle the request rate, limiting the collection of data on high traffic sites.

_ga_set for 2 years.  Assigns a randomly generated number to identify each unique visitor throughout their visit on our site.  Provides visitor, session and campaign data.

If you don’t want to participate in anonymised statistical data collection on our site, please read the final section on Managing cookies.

Third Party Cookies

We currently don’t use any functionality on the site that would result in third party cookies being set on your device.
